The 1969 Fort William Moose-Internationals made their way along the Senior Little League World Series trail by first defeating the Fort William Nationals 13-2. At the provincial championships, the team shut-out Windsor in the two game final to claim the provincial crown and advance to the Canadian championships. The national finals saw the team defeat Edmonton 6-4 in a game that required 5 extra innings, with 3 runs being batted in by Fort William at top of the 12th.
At the Little League World Series, the Fort William team put in a fine showing in a field of tough competitors. Having to play the Indiana team before thousands of home-town fans, they dropped the first game in the double knock-out event, going on to face the US Air Force Base team from Germany in their second match-up. Tied up after two innings of play, Fort William stayed in the game all the way to an extra inning when an umpire’s decision on a bases loaded walk resulted in a 4-3 final for Germany. The members of this Canadian Championship winning team included:
Rick Adduono (Short Stop), Jed Albertini (Left Field), Max Baier (Centre Field), Sandy Kachur (2nd Base), Bill Krezonoski (Pitcher), Dan Majbroda (Pitcher), Bill McIlwain (1st Base), Bob Parsons (Right Field), Darrell Penner (Catcher), Francis Puchalski (Pitcher), Robbie Robertson (3rd Base), Mike Skuta (Pitcher), Dave Vescio (Left field), Jesse Winters (Centre Field), Art Puchalski (Coach), Tom Lane (Manager).
