Over 250 people were on hand to welcome in the Class of 2024 at the 41st Induction Dinner & Ceremonies of the Northwestern Ontario Sports Hall of Fame which were held in Thunder Bay on Saturday, September 28th, 2024 at the Valhalla.

Four (4) athletes, including Terrace-Bay born Olympic hockey gold medallist Haley Irwin along with Thunder Bay athletes, Paralympic skier and gold-medal cyclist Robbi Weldon, hockey player Marc Chorney and boxer/kickboxer Frank Tropea joined two (2) builders including long-time multi-sport volunteers Lee Batstone who was involved with high school athletics and swimming and Geraldton’s Karen Saarimaki a dedicated volunteer in youth athletics, curling and golf.

Special thanks to Diane Imrie and Chris Ficek and his team at Maverick Entertainment for their work on writing and producing our induction videos and to Bryan Wyatt for voicing them and for serving as our Master of Ceremonies. John Sims captured the evening in photographs and pianist Pat Towell and vocalist Denise Krawczuk once again wowed the crowd with their great talents.

Congratulations to our newest inductees and thank you to everybody who helped make the evening a great success including our patrons, program sponsors and presenting sponsor TBaytel
